• Planned and assisted delivering the developmental training to four classes of Vice District Governors  (2003-2004, 2004-2005, 2005-2006 & 2006-2007)

• Assisted in the planning and implementation of four MD 14-MERL Training Seminars (2003, 2004, 2005, & 2006) Served as Chairperson in 2005 & 2006.

• Assisted in the planning and conduction of twelve (12) Regional MERL Training Schools held across the MD during 2003, 2004,2005, & 2006.

• Presented Leadership presentation to Club Officers at 2004, 2005, 2006 MD Lions Convention

• Presented President & Vice Presidents workshop at the 2006 MD Lions Convention

• Met with the MD 14 Long-Range Planning Committee to discuss the Leadership Development needs of the future.

• Presented Vice President Workshops at the 2004 & 2005 MD Lions Convention

• As Leadership Development Chairperson have secured over $8,000.00 in Grant Money from LCI for Vice District Governor Training and District MERL Chairperson Development.

Articles written and Materials developed:

                                Article in the PRIDE titled “Leaders Needed” Volume 26, Number 4

                                Multiple District Leadership Development Plan (Endorsed by 2005-2006 Council of Governors)

Developed twenty-two  (22) PowerPoint presentations used within the MD as training aides for VDG, District MERL Chairpersons, Club Officers and Lion members for leadership skill development.

 

 

 

 INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE

 

Participated as Agricultural Fact Finding representative for Congressman John Murtha on an trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina (1998)

Served on Implementation Team for Penn State Joint Venture with Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland Agricultural Advisory Services "Volunteer Leadership Seminar."  Presented seminars on Leadership to University Faculty in all four countries. (1998)

Served as co-director of Ukrainian Universities Young Faculty Leadership Development Program, an intensive six month program where 4 faculty from Universities in the Ukraine attended Penn State for hands on experience with leadership, served as the coordinator of Applied Leadership Skill Development.  (1997)

Co-coordinator of Lithuanian/Penn State Executive Leadership Seminar. Participated as a member of a team of individuals who hosted two Lithuanian Agricultural Advisory Service staff members at Penn State for a six-week period. Traveled to Lithuania to assist the Lithuanian Agricultural Advisory Service with conduction of a series of seminars on Leadership. (1997)

Participated in the evaluation of the Kellogg Mexico/United States Youth Exchange program at Monterey University in Monterey Mexico.  The intent of the Youth Exchange was to teach young rural residents of the two countries Community Leadership Skills.  (1992)

 

Served as a member of a team of Extension agents who assisted with the development of the initial Extension Plan of Work in the nation of Swaziland. Worked with the Swazi Extension National Administrative Team who reviewed and endorsed the individual Regional plans and served as the National Minister of Agriculture’s personal advisor.  (1990)

Married to Lion Barbara Dian Barkman Ott for 42 years.

Together we are the parents of two grown children
