Pennsylvania District 14G

Message from the Governor

Fellow Lions, Lioness, and Leos:

Thanks to all of you for the opportunity to serve this great district of 14-G with all of its 2100+ members within our 12 counties. In PA, we are the greatest in geographical size, stretching from the Northwest comer of Coudersport, to the Northeast comer of Sayre-Athens, to the southeast corner of Shamokin, to the southwest corner of Port Matilda (State College Area), and everything in between. We also have the greatest # members and clubs (65 Lions Clubs, 11 Lioness, and 16 Leo Clubs). With all these spirited Lions, Lioness, and Leos, I believe we have great potential to grow. It is such a privilege to be part of an organization that does so many amazingly life changing improvements for so many people from our own towns to villages across the world.

"WE SERVE" is the theme of our new International President, Jimmy Ross, a rancher and retired judge, from Quitaque (pronounced Kit-a-Quay), Texas. He would like each club to review everything it does, find what needs to be improved and do it. "We Serve: ... With a New Lions Club International, by supporting our members and clubs, through Club Renewal & Development, By organizing New Clubs & building membership, by developing leaders, by working together for a better world, by promoting our Activities.

In District 14-G, as great as the accomplishments and good deeds of the past are, our Lions logo also looks ahead to the future of all that still needs to be done. With a focus on club renewal, we have three simple steps to take. Decide what has worked well, keep, and expand that. Decide what was not as successful, and figure out how to make it better, if possible. And, decide what you could try that would be brand new. What new service would better meet the needs of your community? What new fund raising project would allow us to do more for those in need? What new, creative and fun membership ideas will give someone a "reason to join" and a "reason to stay"?

Including youth and family members in service projects will strengthen our families, clubs and communities. Everyone should have the opportunity to experience the joy and satisfaction of helping others.

The Sight First II Campaign was established to continue in the fight against blindness. It will allow us to continue our efforts in eradicating river blindness, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration. It will also allow additional clinics, rehabilitation, research and reaching out to vulnerable populations to provide vision for all. Please consider encouraging your clubs to focus on an additional fund raising effort this year to contribute to this very worthwhile cause.

My wife and Partner in Service, Lion Charlotte and I look forward to visiting your clubs this coming year and meeting you. Thank you to each of you for everything you have done for Lions. Your efforts are appreciated. I look forward to all the possibilities coming from our clubs, as they become a part of the New Paradigm Shift of Lionism.
What's new in your Club?

Yours in Lionism, DG Bill Bryan
